About THE Studio

Glassblowing studio in Savannah Georgia

Hostess City Hot Glass is proud to be Savannah born and raised! Our first studio location was a small space off of Louisville Road. Working with apprentice Austin Keogh, artist Ronald Martinez made one-of-a-kind handblown art glass pieces exclusively and sold them through East Coast galleries and museums. We weren’t open to the public, we didn’t teach classes, and we didn’t run epic scavenger hunts that regularly make the news. And why would we? The studio was comfortably in the black, Ronald was a full-time glassblower, and Austin had unlimited studio time (a sweetheart deal for a glassblowing apprentice). We were living the dream and nobody could tell us different.

Ronald Martinez

Raised outside Savannah in Metter, Georgia, Ronald was first introduced to glassblowing while in college in the Pacific Northwest. While supporting himself in jobs ranging from salmon fisherman to antiques dealer, Ronald continued to pursue his love of the ancient craft in Seattle and later the Bay Area. After returning to his beloved Savannah with his wife and daughter, Ronald opened Hostess City Hot Glass in 2018. He is blessed to pursue this historic art form full time in such a historic city.
